Since we share Vaatalya with multiple occupants, we like to ensure everyone has their own space. We’ll ensure your space is likewise respected in return.

Vaatalya's mealtimes match home: 9:30 AM breakfast, 2:00 PM lunch, 8:00 PM dinner. Kitchen closes at 9:00 PM. Snacks at specific times. No late requests or in-room dining. Standard meals are mostly vegetarian. Red and white meats available on request (charges apply).

We follow the Leave No Trace policy. This means you take back all your waste with you while leaving. Always leave the land in as good if not better condition than you found it. You can leave Bio-Degradable waste at Vaatalya as it organically decomposed in our waste units.

Very soon man will realize that money isn’t something we eat, breathe or drink. So do all that you can do to preserve nature. Smokers do ensure cigarette buds go in the bins located at a stone throw distance from each other in our nine-acre mountain. We love nature and take the environment very seriously. Any littering or harm to the environment in any form will lead to immediate termination of your trip. Mother Nature thanks you.

The easiest way to disrupt an enjoyable stay is a plumbing problem. To prevent this, we kindly ask you to please place things like sanitary napkins and tissues in the bin. We simply want to ensure you have a royal flush kind of experience.

If you’re coming to the party you’ve picked a great city to do so. Unfortunately, just not at our place. Though we’re sure it won’t come to it, serious complaints of unruly behaviors or breakage will, unfortunately, result in you being asked to leave without a refund. Please don't break stuff, it's not that easy you know as you think to get a repair guy here or any stuff here. Not good for you. Not good for us.

Our usual arrival time is at 0200 PM, and departure is by 11:00 AM. Arriving slightly earlier, or want that extra hour to sleep? Should be fine, but please check with us first.

You break, you pay – damage costs are on you entirely.

Smoking isn't permitted indoors; any cigarette traces in the room will incur an INR 20,000 charge – please use the balcony or porch or outdoor spaces and remember to dispose of cigarette buds in the bin and not throw it around.

To be considerate to the other travelers and animals in the forests, we kindly ask to keep things on the quieter side after 9 pm. And if you want to listen to music, please remember the other travelers and enjoy via headphones or in your personal space. We’ll make sure to reciprocate the favor. Unless it’s Bob Dylan. He’s okay to play at any time in all areas of the retreat. :)

We love animals. But unfortunately, we do not allow pets.

Vaatalya is run by both me & women professionals. We are completely safe, transparent & reliable. Reliable people have been working with us for years. We screen our travelers before confirming their reservations. This is to ensure that only like-minded meet at a common platform gets access to Vaatalya. All these factors make Vaatalya safe for solo women & other travelers as well. Travel worry-free.

Notice the place, it's quite disconnected. We have the basic retreat hold stuff in place but do tell us anything that you would like us to arrange the way in advance so you don't feel the inconvenience of being away from the city on a mountaintop.

Please make sure you keep all your belongings safe. In any case, Vaatalya will not be held responsible for any lost/stolen/damaged items.

For the early birds in case you need tea or coffee, you already have a tea/coffee set up in the rooms. In case you need "homemade desi chai" its available from around 0830 am, do call upon us, we are all morning people & usually get up early. In case you want it even earlier because you want to picture the sunrise do let us know too, we'll see what best we can do.

If you happen to meet any locals, be polite and say hi. Respect them. Say Namaste. But don’t bother anyone by clicking selfies or doing things without consent. Everyone around the area is helpful and giving.

Keep the room/balcony door closed & bolted. It takes a bit of conscious effort as things are old school. Everything is manual. You are surrounded by forests from all 04 sides & because:

Its windy: The meaning of Vaatalya is “house of wind”. It gets really windy here, if it has to that can lead to the doors banging. It can lead to breakage.

Insects: You are surrounded by the wild. Don’t let things enter your room unexpectedly.

Moist Weather: When it gets cloudy, it can get damp. Don’t let that happen, else you might be sleeping on a wet bed sheet or a mattress.

Guys, we don’t get city facilities here. So ensure you use everything delicately. Starting from the opening and closing of taps to opening and closing the doors. They are slightly old school.

You will be surrounded by 03 reserve forests. The nearest market is 5 km away. So please be careful and respect the wild. Hold your excitement and be careful while stepping out at night, use touches when stepping out for star gazing at night, don’t go out in the wild, and respect the power of nature. You get the idea. Don’t step out in slippers. Wear shoes or crocs. Crocs or something like crocs is the best on & off-foot ware for Vaatalya.
